Currentless plating

With the help of our Star products, non-ferrous metals can be gilded or silver-plated without accessories. Chromating provides protection and visually attractive results on zinc. Thanks to our conductive lacquers, real metal surfaces can be created and, with the help of electroplating, electrically conductive layers can in turn be produced.

Copper conductive paint (400 ml)

Just apply a thin layer of the conductive paint with a brush on the cleaned surface. The copper conductive paste dries until rub-proff in 10 to 15 minutes and therefore allows a quick treatment of the workpieces. The complete drying for perfect resistance on stressed surfaces takes about 12 to 36 hours at room temperature. The varnish can be diluted with butyl acetate. In the next step, the object is connected to a wire and copper-plated in the acidic copper electrolyte from Tifoo. A resistant copper layer will then be deposited. The last step can be used for nickel-plating, silver-plating or even gilding! Thanks to its low price and the high electrical and thermical conductiveness, the conductive copper varnish is the perfect alternative to the conductive silver varnish. Please keep in mind that the first step has to consist in copper-plating in the acidic copper electrolyte because the conductive varnish won't be activated before. After copper-plating, the metal layer will be wear-resistant. Yellow chromate conversion coating (1000 ml)

Description of the article: Tifoo Yellow chromate conversion coating (1000 ml) – the product features at a glance: yellow to golden finish for zinc and zinc-plated objects ideal as finish for the Tifoo zinc plating solution simple immersion bath, no power supply or accessories available 1000 ml content, completely free from highly toxic chromium(VI) also dyes blue passivated zinc parts yellow, e.g. screws and bolts from the DIY superstore The long-standing common chromium(VI) yellow chromate conversion coating is not allowed in Germany any more, not even for commercial users. This is why TIFOO has developped an alternative based on the much less problematic chromium(III). Yellow chromate passivated parts are aesthetic, non-corrosive and essential for all those who work with, for example, vintage cars. The Tifoo yellow passivation creates a shade that is very similar to a chrome(VI) chromate conversion coating. This shade resembles brass - like the old chromate conversion. Also the iridescence effect of the yellow layer is present. The chromate conversion of zinc and zinc workpieces is done simply by dipping the object into the yellow chromate conversion. Without further tools, you will create a yellow passivation layer within a few minutes. During the passivation, some of the zinc will be removed, or better said, dissolved, so please guarantee that the zinc layer is thick enough (>= 2 µm). This is especially valid if you zinc-plated your workpieces yourself with our TIFOO zinc plating solution. You can cancel this process by taking the workpiece out of the bath and rinsing with distilled water. Should the effect be too weak, just put the workpiece again into the bath until the desired shade is achieved. You can obtain shades from weak bright yellow until golden yellow. The Tifoo Gold-Star gilding bath allows you to gild non-ferrous heavy metals, nickel or silver in a few minutes. In order to use it, you don't need any plating experience nor equipment. Make old jewellery shine again. Using the Gold-Star for DIY gilding is very costumer-friendly: Just mix the included reductor into the bath and the gilding bath is ready to use. The bath gilds copper, brass, nickel and silver in a very short time at a working temperature of about 90 °C. Already after a few minutes, you will have achieved a bright and visually appealing gold layer. On copper, you can achieve a red or rose gilding. The colour changes here from copper-coloured (red) to golden yellow via various red-gold shades. By stopping the heating of the bath and by taking the objects out, you can achieve these red gold shades. When gilding longer, you will always obtain yellow gold (24 carats). The bath doesn't require previous experience nor complicated equipments, although it is advisable to use the bath in a suitable receptacle (beaker) with a loose lid, for example the Tifoo basic kit for currentless plating baths. Blue chromate conversion coating

Apply the protection layers (chromate layers) with the Tifoo Blue Chromate Conversion Coating (also called thick film passivation) and give zinc a noble finish. The term chromate conversion coating / thick film passivation of zinc describes the blue undertone that the tin surface will have after the treatment. The chromate conversion coating is realized by dipping the object in a bath of Tifoo Blue Chromate Conversion Bluing. Without the need of any voltage or of working with other tools, you will obtain a thin layer of chemical conversion. The zinc surface is lightly removed with the thick film passivation. The zinc layer should consequently not be too thin, for that can cause erosion of the zinc. Please keep in mind that this is a Cr (III) based variation of blue chromate conversion coating (thick film passivation).
