The stronger power supply is especially needed for objects with bigger surfaces and when using electrolytes that need a high current density, like e.g. the copper electrolyte. (5 A pro dm²). The Tifoo zinc electrolyte for example needs a current density of about 2 A / dm² for immersion plating. That means that with a 3 A power supply, you can e.g. galvanize a surface of 1.5 dm² = 100 cm², i.e. for example a metal sheet of 15 x 10 cm. For all bigger parts, it is advisable to work with a 10 A power supply. The electrolytes vary here: for a gold electrolyte bath, 0.3 A pro dm² are enough, whereas chrome needs a current density of 15 A per dm². An overview of each needed current density can be found either in the instruction manuals of the electrolyte in question, or in Tifoo Current density table.
